Flower Goodness

January 3, 2011

The preschooler was sick the last day of class before winter break … fever, cough, so he delivered little new year gifts to his teachers today instead.  We made felt flower broaches for each of them.  They will be beautiful on winter coats, jean jackets or sweaters.

The flower above is made using 7, five petal shaped flower cut outs, folded into quarters.  Four quarters are glued to a round (half dollar sized) piece of felt, then the remaining three (or more if you want) quarter folded flowers are glued on top in the center to create the dome shape of the flower.  I can not for the life of me find where I saw this so give correct credit – hate that!  So please note that this is not an original idea.

The three flower broach pictured below, was made using this flower making technique.  My older girls did this same little project, making single flower pins, New Years Eve.  They loved it, so it’s a good project for young crafters as well as experienced crafters.
