Striped Valentines
The Valentine experiment worked! A couple of Saturday’s ago I spent a couple of hours unwrapping candy cane after candy cane and slowly melding them together into these colorful striped hearts using the general instructions found here.
These are full size candy canes, purchased at after clearance sales for just over a penny a cane. Perfect and right in my budget. Six-seven minutes in a 300 degree oven proved perfect for these cherry hearts and my silicone baking sheets – an absolute dream (especially if you forget an leave a set in the oven way too long, yeah, very helpful).
We’re slipping each candy heart in to treat sacks purchased in the candy/cake isle of the craft store, the sheet of red cardstock cut just shy of 4×6 will hopefully help these hearts arrive to school in one piece.

Oh my goodness! So smart, I never would have thought of this. I may totally have to steal this idea because I have 4 boxes of candy canes we never used for a Christmas project! Thanks!
